Words from Rebecca, October 2026:
Dear Friends, I am writing from the complicated territory of stressed health. Many of you are familiar with the truth that I survived a very bad bike, brain, and body accident two months ago. You may not know that I still struggle a lot with recovery. Physically my body is in a lot of pain and mentally I have challenges. One of my eyes is very damaged. I’m learning a lot about recovery and survival.
I am writing because I need some support with finding an eye doctor to help me (specifically a neuro-opthalmologist). My right eye is quite injured and needs a lot of help to recover and become useable. By itself, it stays closed. Everywhere that I have checked, they aren’t able to help. One place has help available in October 2027! I am not making this up, they don’t have anything before then. I am looking for a neuro-opthalmologist who has expertise in optic nerve damage. Any information you can share about a doctor that is able to provide intensive services to a damaged eye would be super helpful for me. We are even willing to travel to Boston or Worcester, as there may be no neuro-opthalmologists in Western Mass.
We are currently working with Rebecca's regular eye doctor to try to find something available before October of 2027, but are so far having no luck. Even somebody who has some experience in this area would be better than waiting till next October.
Thanks for reading this request. Please feel free to share this email with anybody in our community who you believe might have some relevant information. I have my fingers crossed that something will appear. In the meantime, Bob is taking great good care of me and we have therapists visiting all week. Sometimes I look out the window and enjoy the sunshine and remaining leaves in the beauty of this area and rest my heart in healing.
Thank you for all that you have shared with me. I’m very touched by the generosity of the community, which has been super extended. Wow, what a blessing! We are fortunate.
much metta, Rebecca
